Purvin & Gertz continuously monitors key trends and issues in the global energy industry and provides timely analysis via multi-client studies. Rationalization of Refining Capacity

Refining profitability is being hampered worldwide as a result of precipitous declines in demand. Purvin & Gertz presents a new study that employs a consistent, market-based approach to identify those refineries most at risk of being rationalized in the current low margin environment. Results of our analysis are provided in a concise written report and user-friendly dashboards that will allow subscribers to understand the competitive positioning of refineries in the most affected regions of the world.

Residual Fuel Market Outlook

In response to ship emissions limits recently adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Purvin & Gertz is conducting a study on marine fuels and refining. Residual Fuel Market Outlook provides a timely and comprehensive analysis of the issues, balances and economics of bunker fuel, stationary fuel oil and refinery residual feedstocks. The study is underway and will be completed by the second quarter of 2009.

Refinery and Terminal Sales Transactions

The Purvin & Gertz Sales Transactions multi-client studies provide a comprehensive review of refinery and terminal sales over the past two decades, bringing together our analysis with publicly available information in a concise and convenient format.

Crude Oil and Oil Sands Market Outlook

This multi-client study addresses the ongoing needs of our clients, particularly as Canadian oil sands take on increasing importance in the continental and global oil balance.  It is integrated with Purvin & Gertz' existing Global Petroleum Market Outlook service, which is an established service with global coverage.

This new service is provided in two parts:

  • The Base Service provides annual updates of Crude Oil Balances and quarterly updates of Crude Oil Prices and Margins.
  • An optional Feature Topic analyzes a specific topic in more detail, and which will change annually as the industry evolves.  For 2009, this topic is The Diluent Key for Producers and Refiners.
